Using a new Yonex racket, going for more power than with a 13-year-old Wilson model, Mary returned to the tour at Scottsdale, where she reached the semifinals at the loss of just 6 games. Lost to Martina Hingis 4-6,3-6.

Mary reached the semis at Indian Wells after a stunning performance in the quarters where she crushed Serena Williams 6-2,6-1. In the third round, she trailed Elena Likhovtseva 3-5 in the third set, but came back from within two points of defeat to win 6-3,5-7,7-5.

Reached a career high doubles ranking of #3 after the tournament.
